SOUPer Bowl of CareRing
With the Super Bowl coming many people are thinking about…food. According to Hallmark Cards, Inc., the Super Bowl represents the #1 at-home party event of the year. In one day, viewers will consume 8 million pounds of guacamole, almost 15,000 tons of chips and 4,000 tons of popcorn. The popcorn alone could ring the Earth almost 5-1/2 times. Now let’s bring this back to the real world. While Super Bowl fans spend more than $50 million on party food, others do not have enough food for dinner that evening. You can make a difference. Soup-port those in need in your community by collecting food and dollars for Metro CareRing! Montview Youth will greet you in the Narthex with soup bowls if you would like to donate $1 or a can of food.

Great short film about IPODERAC.

For almost 10 years, Montview has reached out to street children across our southern border through support of IPODERAC, a home for abandoned boys ages 6 to 18 in the state of Puebla, Mexico. Montview contributes yearly to a scholarship fund for the youth to attend technical-oriented high schools or to enroll in college. The church supports IPODERAC through annual mission trips. Some 70+ boys currently live at IPODERAC.

First Sunday Supper • February 5

Please join us on the first Sunday of every month to do unto others and… make supper! Starting at 11:45 a.m., we’ll gather in the Montview kitchen to prepare a meal together and deliver it to hungry people in downtown Denver. Sunday February 5 is our next Sunday supper cook-in; we’ll serve the meal at 3:30 p.m. We invite people young and old who are interested in serving a community meal and a welcome table to others. Ash Wednesday • February 22

Montview Church will mark the beginning of the 2012 Lenten season with an evening service of candlelight, communion, music and the imposition of ashes on Ash Wednesday, February 22, at 7:30 p.m. All are welcome as we enter the 40 days of Lent. This service offers encouragement amidst the chaos and uncertainty present in our lives as we begin a remembrance of Christ’s 40 days in the wilderness. Such a journey inward offers a path toward Easter’s promise of renewal. Montview musicians Rebecca Gale and Steve Pearlman will be joined by violinist Judy Hagerman to lead the music and prayers of the service in a contemplative style, including songs from the monastic Taize community in France.
