Nepal 2010 Montview Worktrip
December 18, 2010 – January 2, 2011
You Must Be The Change You Wish To See In The World
We are fortunate enough to be working with IDE (International Development Enterprises, www.ideorg.org) and the people in Nepal. There are two projects that would like our assistance. We have been asked to work on a water distribution system, bringing clean water from a spring into a cistern in the village. The Multiple Use System will allow access to clean water for the village instead of walking miles for collection as well as use for these “small plot farmers” to grow off-season crops for income. This project can move them from subsistence farming into the cash economy. The second project is the construction of a distribution center. This facility will provide a place for collection of crops where traders come to pick up produce at the village and take it to market. We will be camping in the village with a Sherpa staff to provide meals and support. Living in the village will allow opportunities for work and social interaction with the locals.
The Montview Church community has been working in Nepal since 2000. They have been a partner in building Patan Hospital and the Nutrition Home in Kathmandu.
