Help us trust that you remain with us,
in every ending and every beginning. Amen.

LISTENING FOR GOD’S WORD

Word to the Children
When the music begins, children are invited to gather on the chancel steps as we sing, “This is where children belong, part of our family, part of our song. Be with us, pray with us, help us grow strong: this is where children belong.” Please note that the 11:00am service is livestreamed and your child’s image may appear on the video.

Sharing Our Faith Stories
Larry Green and Kathy Hoy-Gipe (8:30am)
Jenny Bock and Jean Sibley (11:00am)

Anthem
Love Bade Me Welcome, from Five Mystical Songs (8:30am)
Ralph Vaughan Williams (1872-1958)
Jesu, Bright and Morning Star (11:00am)
Leo Sowerby (1895-1968)

Jesu, bright and morning star,
Uncreated Light of ages,
Star of Jacob seen afar,
Guide our footsteps with yon Sages,
Till we also, of the grace,
See thy face.

If the timid mariner
Do but eye thee,
Star of morrow,
Though the winter night be drear,
Courage high he straight will borrow,
Soon will gain the port,
Where he fain would be.

Wonder Star of eastern skies,
Grant that, at thy next appearing,
With our bodies we may rise,
Joyfully thy summons hearing,
And to realms of endless day
Wend our way.

Prayer for Illumination (Unison)
Holy God, You speak to us across time
calling us to remember and to hope.
Open us to hear your word
and to trust your promises
as you speak to us now. Amen.

Scripture Lesson

Moment for Reflection

Musical Reflection
Amazing Grace (8:30am)
arr. Sarah McDowell

My Eyes for Beauty Pine (11:00am)
Arlen Clarke (b. 1954)

My eyes for beauty pine
My soul for Goddes grace
Not other care nor home is mine
To Heaven I turn my face.

One splendor thence is shed
From all the stars above
‘Tis named when God’s name is said,
‘Tis love, ‘Tis heavenly Love.

And every gentle heart that burns with true desire
Is lit from eyes that mirror part
That mirror part of that celestial fire.
