Sandra Humphries holds a BFA from Rhode Island School of Design and an MA from the University of New Mexico. She is a master watercolorist who painted this quilt-like mountain view after a fall hike in the hills above Santa Fe. In a stunning palette of yellows, greens and blues she portrays the glory we may know on similar fall days.
Sandra Humphries works in water media from plein air sketches. She comments that she paints views like Aspen Symphony to renew her connection to reality in the beauty and repeated patterns of nature. She also paints the fleeting and the unchanging of nature in her works of color and light.
In the spirit of this artist’s seen blessing and in these days that hold their own rattle of distraction and discord, may our sense of needing each other be strengthened. The clumps of aspen trees implied here are likely connected by a shared root system that benefits each one. We can have that also.
We pray to realize our connectedness in God, our creator, and in our faith communities. We have a true, sturdy and agile place together in the family of man and of God. May we lean into this connection and discern the guidance it holds. Emmanuel, God with us in our lives together.
Amen.
